"MillIion DJ March on Washington"

DJs, recording artists, and activists are being called on to rally in Washington DC this summer at the "Million DJ March," in an attempt to shed light on issues affecting DJs.

The three day event - which will be held on August 28 -30 - will find DJs raising their voices for better compensation, security, recognition for contributions to the music industry and an organized union for professional DJs, as they march from the Capitol Building to the Washington Monument.

DJ Green Lantern is the face of the event, while A. Shaw, a long-time sponsor of Justo's Mixtape Awards, is heading up the whole thing.

"DJ's do not get fully recognized for the work they do," Shaw said in a statement. "Label and major businesses who reap the rewards of default publicity need to pay attention and give more recognition and financial compensation to DJs for the promotion they provide, without which music sales would surely suffer."

Sometimes, DJs even face legal repercussions for that promotion, a practice the rally will also address.

"[DJs are] often harassed and legally penalized for their promotional efforts even when those efforts have been solicited directly by the labels and artists themselves: an arrangement that is known about throughout the industry but kept 'on the low," the press release reads.

"I am calling upon the industry to show support for an event to unify deejays and help create future economic safety for those that have chosen this art form as a career ," Shaw said.

Sponsors and attendees will be treated to artist performances, speeches by music industry leaders and founding DJs.

Jay-Z Sets Up Trust Fund For Sean Bell's Kids

People often complain about hip-hop not showing up for things like this, but rap citizens have stepped up in a variety of ways on this one. Not that any rap philanthropy is enough to bring solace or justice here.

The hip hop community has had different replies to the Sean Bell verdict. The Game, David Banner, Swizz Beatz, Talib Kweli, Styles P, Jadakiss, Mos Def and more have been openly upset at the verdict. Game even released a new track and now Jay-Z is giving his response. Jay-Z has established an educational trust for the children of Sean Bell. Jay-Z is reportedly closely working with Sean Bell’s widow, Nicole Paultre Bell, to institute the trust funds for both of their children.

Rapper Jay-Z has established an education trust fund for the children of Sean Bell - the man who was shot and killed by New York police on the day of his wedding, according to reports from AllHipHop.

The Hip-Hop mogul, born Shawn Carter, has close ties to the case, as ads from his "I Will Not Lose" Rocawear campaign featured the children's mother, Nicole Paultre-Bell, who married her fiance posthumously. The woman's participation in the ad sparked outrage and accusations of trial tampering.

A source close to the matter told AllHipHop that the process of setting up the fund began before the trial that recently acquitted three NYPD detectives on all charges related to the death. Activity was suspended during the trial and has now resumed.

The stock-based fund will mature when Jada, 5, and Jordan, 1, become adults.

Man Arrested Trying To Cash $360 Billion Check

Police in Texas said a 21-year-old man was arrested and accused of trying to cash a check for $360 billion.Police in Fort Worth said they arrested Charles Fuller last week when bank tellers noticed the ridiculously large amount and called the woman whose name was on the check.

The woman said Fuller is her daughter’s boyfriend, but she had not given him a check — and certainly not one for billions of dollars.

Fuller has been charged with fraud, police said.

Police said they found 2 ounces of marijuana and a gun in his pockets when they arrested him, so he also faces charges for unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of marijuana.

According to reports Fuller claimed that the money was given to him by his girlfriend’s mother to start a record label.

I have no further questions your honor.
